William Ward and Mary Ann Dimmock
Studio Photo of William Ward and Mary Ann Dimmock, sent to us by a relative, Susan Foster, from Australia. Mary Ann was the daughter of James Dimmock (sometimes written Dimmick) and Ann Lock, of The Rising Sun, Thorney in the early 19th century. James was the landlord of The Rising Sun. Mary Ann and William emigrated to Australia and they named their farm in rural New South Wales, near Bathurst, "Thorney", after Mary Ann's childhood home. Their first daughter Hannah was baptised in St.Martin's Church in 1849, but she died soon after arriving in Australia.
