Elm twin-screw cider press
An old Elm twin-screw cider press bought and operated by the Parrett Cider Company. Here the press is at The Orchards, Stembridge. The photo shows the 'cheese', layers of milled/chopped cider apples, wrapped in square envelopes of cheese cloth/washed hessian or something similar - traditionally the apples were pressed between layers of straw. When pressed, the cheese produces the apple juice for making cider - which you can see running into the plastic barrel at the base of the press.
